Rain Grid Cleaning |
Over the last few weeks in November 2010 you may have seen contractors cleaning and clearing rain grids in and around the Knypersley and Biddulph areas. The Association has been raising concerns about the poor maintenance of what we consider to be essential work to reduce the possibility of flooding in many areas.
We are very pleased that Staffordshire Moorlands has responded to our many requests over the last 12 months.
In fact the Biddulph Chronicle
reported recently :
Biddulph's roadsides are to be spruced up under a scheme to tackle small-scale highway niggles.
Staffordshire County Council's neighbourhood highway teams will tackle minor maintenance and repair jobs in Biddulph, Brown Edge and Endon this month.
All parishes and urban wards in the county are promised three visits a year by teams that have been alerted to problems by community representatives.
The 10 teams will deal with problems that the council admits had often "crept below the radar" including weeding and grass trimming, environmental improvement schemes, fencing, painting, ditching and the cleaning of road signs.
County councillor for Biddulph South and Endon Christina Jebb said: "Even though the work that is being carried out is quite minor, it will have a major impact on the appearance of the areas."The neighbourhood highway teams' work really helps to give the county a more polished look which people can take pride in." |
