Trading Standards have received reports from Sky TV subscribers who have received phone calls purporting to be offering them a reduction on their monthly subscription.
The callers asks whether the subscriber has called Sky in the past 12 months for technical help. When the subscriber says ‘no’, the caller goes on to say that because of this they are eligible for a £1 per month reduction of their subscription. The caller then goes on to ask for the subscribers bank card details.
One subscriber decided to contact Sky before handing over any bank details and was told the call was not from them, although they had received reports of similar phone calls from other customers.
If you are contacted in this was, do not give out any personal or bank account details over the telephone. If you are due a genuine reduction in your monthly subscription, Sky will already have your bank account details and will be able to credit your account or bill accordingly.
If you think you may have received a telephone call contact Sky to report it.
